§ 135-103. Eligible participants. - North Carolina Statutes

§135‑103.  Eligible participants.

(a)        The eligibleparticipants of the Disability Income Plan shall consist of:

(1)        All teachers andemployees in service and members of the Teachers' and State Employees'Retirement System or participants of the Optional Retirement Program on January1, 1988.

(2)        All persons whobecome teachers and employees or re‑enter service as teachers oremployees and are in service and members of the Teachers' and State Employees'Retirement System or participants of the Optional Retirement Program afterJanuary 1, 1988.

(b)        The participationof any person in the Disability Income Plan shall cease upon:

(1)        The termination ofthe participant's employment as a teacher or State employee, or

(2)        The participant'sretirement under the provisions of the Teachers' and Employees' RetirementSystem or the Optional Retirement Program, or

(3)        The participant'sbecoming a beneficiary under the Plan, or

(4)        The participant'sdeath. (1987, c. 738, s. 29(q).)
