§139‑14. Dividing large districts.
Whenever the Soil and WaterConservation Commission shall receive a petition from any board of districtsupervisors signed by all supervisors of such district, the Commission shallhave the authority to divide such district into two or more districts. Thegoverning bodies of the resulting districts shall be composed of supervisors inthe same manner and in the same number as is provided in G.S. 139‑6 and139‑7. Upon the creating of new districts through dividing an existingdistrict under the provisions of this section, the Commission shall appoint alldistrict supervisors necessary to give such district its full quota ofsupervisors who shall serve until regular supervisors are elected or appointed,as the case may be, at the time of the next regular election of supervisors.The Commission shall assign a name to each district resulting from the divisionof the district under the provisions of this section and do all other thingsnecessary to complete the organization of such new districts and place them onan operating basis.
