§ 140‑5.12.  Agency ofState; functions.

The North Carolina Museum ofArt is an agency of the State of North Carolina within the Department ofCultural Resources. The functions of the North Carolina Museum of Art shall beto acquire, preserve, and exhibit works of art for the education and enjoymentof the people of the State, and to conduct programs of education, research, andpublication designed to encourage an interest in and an appreciation of art onthe part of the people of the State.
