§ 143‑282.  Dutiesof Commission; recommendations.

This Commission shall study the problems relating to the care of theaged with especial reference to those failing mentally and shall inquire intothe methods of meeting and handling this problem in other states. It shall makea similar study of the problem of the care of the feebleminded, with especialattention to the custodial care of intellectually handicapped persons notteachable or trainable. It shall make a study of the problems relating to thecare of the physically handicapped with a special reference to those whosephysical handicap renders them incapable of self‑support and shallinquire into the methods of meeting and handling this problem in other states.

It shall make recommendations to the Governor offering plans fordealing with the problem of the care needed for this group, and means ofclarification of the responsibility of the State and respective counties. (1949, c. 1211, s. 4.)
