§ 143‑64.  Beveragescontracts.

Notwithstanding any otherprovision of law, local school administrative units, community colleges, andconstituent institutions of The University of North Carolina shallcompetitively bid contracts that involve the sale of juice or bottled water.Contracts for the sale of juice and contracts for the sale of bottled watershall each be bid separately from each other and separately from any othercontract, including contracts for other beverages or vending machine services.The local school administrative units, community colleges, and constituentinstitutions may set quality standards for these beverages, and these standardsmay be used to accept or reject a bid.
