Farming Out Convicts.
§ 148‑66. Cities andtowns and Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services may contract forprison labor.
The corporate authorities ofany city or town may contract in writing with the State Department ofCorrection for the employment of convicts upon the highways or streets of suchcity or town, and such contracts when so exercised shall be valid andenforceable against such city or town, and the Attorney General may prosecutean action in the Superior Court of Wake County in the name of the State fortheir enforcement.
The Department of Agricultureand Consumer Services is hereby authorized and empowered to contract, inwriting, with the State Department of Correction for the employment and use ofconvicts under its supervision to be worked on the State test farms and/orState experimental stations.
