§ 160A-509. Tenure and compensation of members of commission.

§ 160A‑509.  Tenureand compensation of members of commission.

The mayor and governing body shall designate overlapping terms of notless than one nor more than five years for the members who are first appointed.Thereafter, the term of office shall be five years. A member shall hold officeuntil his successor has been appointed and qualified. Vacancies for theunexpired terms shall be promptly filled by the mayor and governing body. Amember shall receive such compensation, if any, as the municipal governingboard may provide for this service, and shall be entitled within the budget appropriation to the necessary expenses, including traveling expenses, incurredin the discharge of his duties.
