§ 20‑55.  Examination ofregistration records and index of seized, stolen, and recovered vehicles.

The Division, upon receivingapplication for any transfer of registration or for original registration of avehicle, other than a new vehicle sold by a North Carolina dealer, shall firstcheck the engine and serial numbers shown in the application with its record ofregistered motor vehicles, and against the index of seized, stolen andrecovered motor vehicles required to be maintained by this Article.
