§ 65-43.2. Proof of eligibility.

§65‑43.2.  Proof of eligibility.

(a)        The veteran, hissurvivors, or his legal representative shall furnish any evidence necessary toestablish the eligibility of the veteran or the family member before theveteran or eligible family member may be interred in a State veterans cemetery.

(b)        The survivors orlegal representative of the deceased shall notify the funeral director that thedeceased is to be interred in a veterans cemetery.  The survivor or legalrepresentative shall furnish the funeral director with documentary evidence ofthe veteran's honorable military service and evidence to establish that theveteran is a legal resident of North Carolina.  The funeral director shallnotify the superintendent of the nearest State veterans cemetery to arrange forthe interment and convey to the superintendent all evidence to establish theveteran's eligibility.
