§ 74‑24.16.  Education,training, technical assistance, and research.

(a)        The Commissionerthrough the Director is authorized to develop and conduct expanded programs forthe education, training, and technical assistance of operators and miners inthe recognition, avoidance, and prevention of accidents or unsafe orunhealthful working conditions and to conduct such research as may be necessaryin mines which are subject to this Article.

(b)        The Commissioner isauthorized to conduct, directly or by grants, short‑term training ofpersonnel engaged in work related to the Commissioner's responsibilities underthis Article.

(c)        In carrying out theprovisions of this Article, the Commissioner is authorized to enter intoagreements and contracts with, and accept grants from and make grants to,public and private agencies and organizations and individuals.
