Control of Explorationfor Uranium in North Carolina.

§ 74‑75.  Legislativefindings; declaration of policy.

The General Assembly findsthat exploration for uranium within the State has the potential to lead toemployment opportunities and other economic benefits for the citizens of NorthCarolina.

However, improper andunregulated exploration for uranium could adversely affect the health, safetyand general welfare of the citizens of this State and could cause environmentalharm.

The purpose of this Article isto assure that such exploration will be accomplished in a manner that protectsthe environment and the health, safety and welfare of the public. (1983,c. 279, s. 1.)
