§ 75A‑10.2. Proof ofownership of a vessel.
(a) In all actions torecover damages for injury to the person or to property or for the death of aperson, arising out of an accident or collision involving a vessel, proof ofownership of such vessel at the time of the accident or collision shall beprima facie evidence that the vessel was being operated and used with theauthority, consent and knowledge of the owner in the very transaction out ofwhich the injury or cause of action arose.
(b) Proof of the certificateof number stating the identification number awarded to the vessel in the nameof any person, firm, or corporation as required by this Chapter, or proof ofthe licensing, registration, or documentation of the vessel as required byother state or federal law in the name of any person, firm, or corporation,shall for the purpose of any such action, be prima facie evidence of ownershipand that the vessel was then being operated by and under the control of aperson for whose conduct the owner was legally responsible, for the owner'sbenefit, and within the course and scope of the operator's employment.
