§ 7B‑2704. Payment ofsupport or other expenses; assignment of insurance coverage.
At the dispositional hearingor a subsequent hearing, if the court finds that the parent is able to do so,the court may order the parent to:
(1) Pay a reasonable sumthat will cover in whole or in part the support of the juvenile. If the courtrequires the payment of child support, the amount of the payments shall bedetermined as provided in G.S. 50‑13.4;
(2) Pay a fee forprobation supervision or residential facility costs;
(3) Assign privateinsurance coverage to cover medical costs while the juvenile is in securedetention, youth development center, or other out‑of‑homeplacement; and
(4) Pay appointedattorneys' fees.
All money paid by a parentpursuant to this section shall be paid into the office of the clerk of superiorcourt.
If the court places a juvenilein the custody of a county department of social services and if the court findsthat the parent is unable to pay the cost of the support required by thejuvenile, the cost shall be paid by the county department of social services inwhose custody the juvenile is placed, provided the juvenile is not receivingcare in an institution owned or operated by the State or federal government orany subdivision thereof.
