Interstate Compact onAdoption and Medical Assistance.
§ 7B‑3900. Legislativefindings and purposes.
(a) Finding adoptivefamilies for children, for whom state assistance is desirable pursuant to G.S.108A‑49 and G.S. 108A‑50, and assuring the protection of theinterests of the children affected during the entire assistance period requirespecial measures when the adoptive parents move to another state or areresidents of another state. Additionally, the provision of medical and othernecessary services for children receiving State assistance encounters specialdifficulties when the provision of services takes place in another state.
(b) In recognition ofthe need for special measures, the General Assembly authorizes the Secretary ofthe Department of Health and Human Services to enter into interstate agreementswith agencies of other states for the protection of children on behalf of whomadoption assistance is being provided by the Department of Health and HumanServices and to provide procedures for interstate adoption assistance payments,including payments for medical services.
