§ 7B‑3901.  Definitions.

Unless the context requiresotherwise, as used in this Article:

(1)        "Adoptionassistance state" means the state that is a signatory to an adoptionassistance agreement in a particular case.

(2)        "Residencestate" means the state where the child is living.

(3)        "State"means a state of the United States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealthof Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Guam, the Commonwealth of the NorthernMariana Islands, or any territory or possession subject to the jurisdiction ofthe United States. (1999‑190, s. 5.)
