§88B‑12.  (Effective until July 1, 2010) Temporary employment permit;extensions; limits on practice.

(a)        The Board shallissue a temporary employment permit to an applicant for licensure as anapprentice, cosmetologist, esthetician, or manicurist who meets all of thefollowing:

(1)        Has completed therequired hours of a cosmetic art school curriculum in the area in which theapplicant wishes to be licensed.

(2)        Has applied to takethe examination within three months of completing the required hours.

(3)        Is qualified to takethe examination.

(b)        A temporaryemployment permit shall expire six months from the date of graduation from acosmetic art school and shall not be renewed.

(c)        The holder of atemporary employment permit may practice cosmetic art only under thesupervision of a licensed cosmetologist, manicurist, or esthetician, asappropriate, and may not operate a cosmetic art shop.
