§88B‑13. (Effective until July 1, 2010) Applicants licensed in otherstates.
(a) The Board shallissue a license to an applicant licensed as an apprentice, cosmetologist,esthetician, or manicurist in another state if the applicant shows:
(1) The applicant is anactive practitioner in good standing.
(2) The applicant haspracticed at least one of the three years immediately preceding the applicationfor a license.
(3) There is nodisciplinary proceeding or unresolved complaint pending against the applicantat the time a license is to be issued by this State.
(4) The licensurerequirements in the state in which the applicant is licensed are substantiallyequivalent to those required by this State.
(b) Instead of meetingthe requirements in subsection (a) of this section, any applicant who islicensed as a cosmetologist, esthetician, or manicurist in another state shallbe admitted to practice in this State under the same reciprocity or comityprovisions that the state in which the applicant is licensed grants to personslicensed in this State.
(c) The Board mayestablish standards for issuing a license to an applicant who is licensed as ateacher in another state. These standards shall include a requirement that thelicensure requirements in the state in which the teacher is licensed shall besubstantially equivalent to those required in this State and that the applicantshall be licensed by the Board to practice in the area in which the applicantis licensed to teach.
