3319.071 Professional development program for teachers.

The board of education of any school district may, by resolution, establish a professional development program for teachers in accordance with which it may reimburse teachers employed by the district for all or any part of the cost incurred by the teacher in the successful completion of a course or training program in which the teacher enrolled as part of the development program. The terms and conditions for participation shall be determined by the board and shall be included in the resolution establishing the program. No teacher shall be required to participate in a professional development program under this section. When a teacher is participating in such a program, such participation does not constitute the performance of duties by such teacher in addition to the teacher’s regular teaching duties and is not subject to section 3319.08 of the Revised Code. As used in this section, “teacher” has the meaning contained in division (A) of section 3319.09 of the Revised Code.
