1163 - Maintenance of escaping inmates under new sentence.
§ 1163. Maintenance of escaping inmates under new sentence. (a) County jurisdiction.--In case of conviction and sentence of an escaping inmate under the jurisdiction of the county, the costs of maintenance of the inmates under such new sentence shall be borne by the county from which the inmate was originally committed. (b) State jurisdiction.--In case of conviction and sentence of an escaping inmate under the jurisdiction of the Commonwealth, the costs of maintenance of the inmate under such new sentence shall be borne by the Commonwealth. (c) Additional police expenses.--Any additional police expenses incurred by a political subdivision as a result of the escape of an inmate under the jurisdiction of the Commonwealth shall be borne by the Commonwealth.
