SECTION 10-20-1

   § 10-20-1  Legislative findings andpurpose. – The general assembly finds and declares that each person is entitled by rightto the protection, preservation, and enhancement of air, water, land, and othernatural resources located within the state and that each person has theresponsibility to contribute to the protection, preservation, and enhancementthereof. The legislature further declares its policy to create and maintainwithin the state conditions under which man and nature can exist in productiveharmony in order that present and future generations may enjoy clean air andwater, productive land, and other natural resources with which this state hasbeen endowed. Accordingly, it is in the public interest to provide an adequatecivil remedy to protect air, water, land and other natural resources locatedwithin the state from pollution, impairment, or destruction.
