SECTION 11-25-1

   § 11-25-1  Escape from correctionalinstitutions. – Every prisoner who shall attempt to escape, or who shall escape, from thelawful custody of the warden of the adult correctional institutions, or fromthe custody of the director of mental health, retardation and hospitalspursuant to the provisions of § 40.1-5.3-1, shall, upon conviction, beimprisoned not more than three (3) years or be fined not more than five hundreddollars ($500). However, nothing in this section shall be construed to includethe offense of breaking jail.
