§ 11-37.1-8 - Verification of address. - Rhode Island Statutes

SECTION 11-37.1-8

   § 11-37.1-8  Verification of address.– (a) For a person required to register under § 11-37.1-3(a)(1) or (2) oneach anniversary of the person's initial registration date during the period inwhich the person is required to register:

   (1) The sex offender community notification unit of theparole board shall mail a non-forwardable verification form to the lastreported address of the person;

   (2) The person shall mail the verification form to the sexoffender community notification unit within ten (10) days after receipt of theform;

   (3) The verification form shall be signed by the person, andstate that the person still resides at the address last reported to the locallaw enforcement agency having jurisdiction over the city or town in which theperson having the duty to register resides; and

   (4) If the person fails to mail the verification form to thesex offender community notification unit of the parole board within ten (10)days after receipt of the form, the person shall be in violation of thischapter unless the person proves that the person has not changed the residenceaddress from that which he or she last registered.

   (b) The provisions of subdivisions (1) – (4) of thissection shall apply to a person required to register under §11-37.1-3(a)(3), (4), or (5), except that the registration address verificationshall take place quarterly.
