SECTION 11-41.2-2

   § 11-41.2-2  Alteration of identificationnumbers. – Any person who shall alter the identification number of any item of electronicequipment as defined in this chapter shall, upon conviction, be sentenced asfollows:

   (1) If the value of the property exceeds five hundred dollars($500), by imprisonment for not more than three (3) years, or by a fine of notmore than five thousand dollars ($5,000), or both;

   (2) If the value of the property does not exceed five hundreddollars ($500), the person shall be punished by imprisonment for not more thanone year, or by a fine of not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000), or both.
