SECTION 12-29-4.1

   § 12-29-4.1  Speedy trial. – In any action under this chapter, the court and the attorney general's officeshall take appropriate action to ensure a speedy trial to minimize the lengthof time the victim must endure the stress of involvement in the proceeding. Inruling on any motion or request for a delay or continuance of proceedings, thecourt shall consider any adverse impact the delay or continuance may have onthe well-being of the victim. This provision establishes a right to a speedytrial to the victim and shall not be construed as creating any additionalrights for, or diminishing any rights of the defendant.
