SECTION 15-9-5

   § 15-9-5  Duty of department to parent.– (a) Prior to filing a claim pursuant to § 15-9-1, the department shallseek the cooperation of the person from whom reimbursement for support andmaintenance may be sought.

   (b) The department shall inform the person that he or shedoes not, for good cause, have to cooperate. The department shall explain tothe person his or her rights and obligations, including good cause for refusalto cooperate, as set forth in 45 C.F.R. 232.41 et seq.

   (c) The department shall promulgate rules, regulations, andprocedures to implement this section.
