§ 16-12-3.1 Period of silent meditation.– At the opening of every school day in all grades in all public schools theteacher in charge of the room in which each class is held shall announce that aperiod of silence not to exceed one minute in duration shall be observed formeditation, and during this period silence shall be maintained and noactivities engaged in.
