§ 16-41-3 - Rhode Island board members – Qualifications.

SECTION 16-41-3

   § 16-41-3  Rhode Island board members– Qualifications. – (a) The authority shall appoint four (4) resident members from Rhode Island whoshall serve in accordance with article II of the compact. In the month of Mayin each year the authority shall appoint successors to those members of thecompact whose terms shall expire in that year, to hold office on the first dayof June in the year of appointment and until the first day of June in the thirdyear after their successors are appointed and qualified.

   (b) The president of the senate shall appoint two (2) membersof the senate to serve in accordance with article II for the member'slegislative term.

   (c) The speaker of the house shall appoint two (2) members ofthe house to serve in accordance with article II for the member's legislativeterm.

   (d) Any vacancy of a member which shall occur in thecommission shall be filled by the appointing authority for the remainder of theunexpired term. All members shall serve without compensation but shall beentitled to receive reimbursement for reasonable and necessary expensesactually incurred in the performance of their duties.
