SECTION 16-43-3

   § 16-43-3  Accounts and records. – The department of elementary and secondary education shall prescriberegulations for the keeping of accounts and records and the making of reportsby or under the supervision of school committees. These accounts and recordsshall be available for inspection and audit by authorized agents of the federalgovernment or by the commissioner of elementary and secondary education or hisor her duly authorized agents. The department of elementary and secondaryeducation shall conduct or cause to be conducted any audits, inspections, andadministrative reviews of accounts, records, and operations with respect toeducational programs established under 20 U.S.C. § 2301 et seq. considerednecessary to determine whether its agreements with school committees andregulations pursuant to this chapter are being complied with, and to insurethat those programs are effectively administered.
