§ 16-56-3 - General eligibility requirements.

SECTION 16-56-3

   § 16-56-3  General eligibilityrequirements. – (a) Eligibility of individuals. An applicant is eligible for a monetaryaward when the authority finds:

   (1) That the applicant is a resident of this state;

   (2) That the applicant is enrolled or intends to be enrolledin a program of study which leads to a certificate or degree at an eligiblepostsecondary institution;

   (3) That the applicant exhibits financial need.

   (b) Eligibility of institutions. An applicant mayapply for an award for the purpose of attending an institution of postsecondaryeducation whether designated as a university, college, community college,junior college, or scientific or technical school, which either:

   (1) Is an institution that has gained accreditation from anaccrediting agency which is recognized by the United States office ofeducation; or

   (2) Has gained the explicit endorsement from the authorityfor the purpose of Rhode Island postsecondary student financial assistance.
