SECTION 17-3-1

   § 17-3-1  Time of election – Term ofoffice. – Senators and representatives in the general assembly shall be electedbiennially, at general elections, in each senatorial and representativedistrict in accordance with the provisions of this title; and shall hold theirrespective offices for two (2) years beginning on the first Tuesday of January,next succeeding their election, and until the election and qualification oftheir respective successors.
