SECTION 17-8-3

   § 17-8-3  Compensation. – Each member of a local board shall receive any compensation that may beprovided by the governing body of each city or town; provided, that in theseveral towns where no other provision is made for compensation, each member ofthe local board shall be paid by that member's respective town five dollars($5.00) per day for every day's attendance in the discharge of the member'srespective duties, and the town clerks shall be paid, in addition, legal feesfor making out and recording the several lists and returns required by thistitle.
