SECTION 2-15-9

   § 2-15-9  Control of injurious gases.– No person, firm or corporation owning or using or having control or charge ofgas or other substance shall knowingly permit that gas or other substance tocome in contact with the soil surrounding the roots of any tree, shrub or plantin any public highway or on any public grounds, under the jurisdiction of thetree warden, or the department of transportation, the department ofenvironmental management, or the park commission of any town or city in anymanner that shall injure, kill or destroy the tree, shrub or plant.
