SECTION 22-3-17

   § 22-3-17  Taking of engagement of officeby members. – On the first Tuesday in January in each odd-numbered year, at twelve o'clocknoon (12:00 p.m.), the persons whose names are borne on the respective listsshall be admitted to take seats as members of the senate and house ofrepresentatives, respectively, and those persons shall assemble at that time intheir respective chambers at Providence and take their engagement of officebefore the secretary of state, attorney general, or some person authorized bylaw to administer oaths.
