SECTION 23-1-5

   § 23-1-5  Enforcement of sanitary laws.– The department of health and director of health shall enforce the provisions ofall general laws and public laws relating to the sanitary inspection ofswimming pools, bathing beaches, camp grounds, barber shops, hairdressingparlors, and any other premises and properties the inspection of which may beconferred upon the department of health. The sanitary inspection of barbershops shall be made by registered barbers and the director of health shallemploy at least one registered barber for this purpose who shall enforce rulesand regulations as prescribed under chapter 10 of title 5. The department anddirector shall enforce the provisions of chapter 27 of title 21 insofar as theyrelate to the inspection of bakeries and other establishments and shall performthe functions relating to child hygiene, food and drugs, the purification ofwaters, slaughterhouses, and narcotic drugs and pharmacies.
