SECTION 23-17-12.1

   § 23-17-12.1  Scope of inspections. –(a) Inspections and investigations shall include health, sanitation, nursingcare, and dietary and other conditions immediately affecting the patients.

   (b) The department shall assign responsibility for verifyingcompliance with licensing requirements and issuing renewal licenses to anindividual or office independent of the inspection process.

   (c) The department shall establish written procedures to: (1)track all deficiencies identified during and after the inspection andinvestigation processes; and (2) clearly define the internal process forappealing deficiency citations.

   (d) The department shall establish procedures to verify theimplementation of plans of correction and remediation.
