SECTION 23-18-2.1

   § 23-18-2.1  Cremated human remains. –(a) If a cemetery has rules or regulations in effect regarding the dispositionof cremated human remains on or in cemetery property, those rules andregulations, if not contrary to law, shall be binding on all interested parties.

   (b) The scattering of cremated human remains within acemetery shall be prohibited except within a specific area designated for thatpurpose. Violation of this subsection shall be punishable by a fine of not toexceed five hundred dollars ($500).

   (c) Nothing in this section shall be construed to require acemetery to authorize the scattering of ashes when that practice is contrary tothe religious beliefs associated with the cemetery.
