§ 23-19.6-4 - Definitions. - Rhode Island Statutes

SECTION 23-19.6-4

   § 23-19.6-4  Definitions. – As used in this chapter:

   (1) "Director" means the director of the department ofenvironmental management;

   (2) "Person" means any individual, private or publiccorporation, partnership, cooperative, association, estate, municipality,political or jurisdictional subdivision, or government agency orinstrumentality;

   (3) "Recycle" means to prepare used oil for reuse as apetroleum product by refining, re-refining, reclaiming, reprocessing, or othermeans or to use used oil in a manner that substitutes for a petroleum productmade from new oil; provided, that the preparation or use is operationally safe,environmentally sound, and complies with all laws and regulations;

   (4) "Used oil" means a petroleum based oil which, after saleto a consumer, through use, storage, or handling has become unsuitable for itsoriginal purpose and is suitable for recycling, and furthermore, is regulatedunder the Hazardous Waste Management Act of 1978, chapter 19.1 of this title,and the regulations promulgated pursuant to that act.
