   § 23-27.3-108.1.1  Applications andpermits. – The building official shall issue all necessary notices or orders to removeillegal or unsafe conditions, to require the necessary safeguards duringconstruction, to require adequate exitway facilities in new and existingbuildings and structures, and to insure compliance with all the coderequirements for the safety, health, and general welfare of the public. Thestate building commissioner shall assume the authority for the purpose ofenforcing the provisions of this code when not otherwise provided for.
