SECTION 23-4-9

   § 23-4-9  Deaths in public places. –In the event that a person dies suddenly on a public highway or elsewhere inthe public view and the death appears to be from natural causes or the resultof injuries received from a highway accident, the state police or any superiorofficer of the local police or an agent of the office of state medicalexaminers may order the removal of the body from the place of death, uponcompletion of their investigation as to the cause and manner of death, to thefuneral home designated by a family representative of the deceased or to thestate morgue or any hospital.
