§ 27-16-7 Service of process on agent orinsurance producer. Service of process in an action, suit, or proceeding shall, in addition to themanner provided in § 27-16-6, be valid if served upon any person withinthis state who, in this state on behalf of the insurer, is: (1) solicitinginsurance or reinsurance; (2) making, issuing or delivering any contract ofinsurance or reinsurance; or (3) collecting or receiving any premium,membership fee, assessment, or other consideration for insurance orreinsurance; and a copy of the process is sent within ten (10) days after thisby registered mail by the plaintiff or plaintiff 's attorney to the defendantat the last known principal place of business of the defendant, and thedefendant's receipt, or the receipt issued by the post office with which theletter is registered, showing the name of the sender of the letter and the nameand address of the person to whom the letter is addressed, and the affidavit ofthe plaintiff or plaintiff 's attorney showing a compliance with this section,are filed with the clerk of the court in which the action is pending on orbefore the date the defendant is required to appear, or within any further timeas the court may allow.
