§ 27-2-14 Forwarding of process bycommissioner. (a) Whenever lawful process against a foreign insurance company shall be servedupon the insurance commissioner, the commissioner shall forward a copy of theprocess served on him or her, by mail, postpaid, and directed to the personappointed by the insurance company to accept service of process on behalf ofthe company.
(b) Service upon the insurance commissioner shall beaccomplished by regular mail or by whatever alternative method is designated bythe commissioner.
(c) For each copy of process the insurance commissioner shallcollect, for the use of the state, the sum of twenty-five dollars ($25.00),which shall be paid by the plaintiff at the time of the service; the fee is tobe recovered by the plaintiff as part of the taxable costs, if he or sheprevails in the suit.
