§ 27-54-3 Investigations. (a) Pursuant to chapter 13.1 of this title, the director or the director'sdesignee may conduct investigations as he or she deems necessary in order toascertain whether any person has violated or is violating any provision of thischapter.
(b) Whenever the director or the director's designee hasreason to believe that a provision of this chapter has been violated, he or shemay report the violation of law to the attorney general who may bring an actionin the court of appropriate jurisdiction. Within one hundred twenty (120) daysof receipt of the director's report, the attorney general shall inform thedirector or the director's designee as to the status of the reportedviolations. Where the affected insurer has become the subject of a court orderfor conservation, rehabilitation or liquidation, the director or the director'sdesignee may also refer the matter to the receiver for action under §27-54-2.
