SECTION 28-53-3

   § 28-53-3  Powers and duties of the fund.– The fund shall:

   (a) Be obligated to pay covered claims as determined by thedirector or the workers' compensation court pursuant to the provisions of thissection;

   (b) Investigate claims brought against the fund and adjust,compromise, settle and pay covered claims to the extent of the fund'sallocation;

   (c) Establish procedures for managing the assets of the fund;

   (d) Sue or be sued; and

   (e) Perform any and all acts necessary to effectuate thehumanitarian purposes of this chapter.
