SECTION 31-25-25

   § 31-25-25  Seasonal weight restrictions bylocal authorities. – (a) Local authorities with respect to highways under their jurisdiction may byordinance or resolution prohibit the operation of vehicles upon a highway orimpose restrictions as to the weight of vehicles to be operated upon a highway,for a total period of not to exceed ninety (90) days in any one calendar year,whenever the highway by reason of deterioration, rain, snow, or other climaticconditions will be seriously damaged or destroyed unless the use of vehicles onit is prohibited or the permissible weights of them is reduced.

   (b) The local authority enacting the ordinance or resolutionshall erect or cause to be erected and maintained signs designating theprovisions of the ordinance or resolution at each end of that portion of anyhighway affected by it, and the ordinance or resolution shall not be effectiveunless and until the signs are erected and maintained.
