   § 31-3.1-5  Examination of records. –The division of motor vehicles, receiving application for a first certificateof title, shall check the identifying number of the vehicle shown in theapplication against the records of vehicles required to be maintained by §31-3.1-6 and against the record of stolen and converted vehicles required to bemaintained by § 31-9-9.
