SECTION 31-3-7

   § 31-3-7  Registration – Indexing ofrecords. – The division of motor vehicles shall file each application received and whensatisfied as to its genuineness and regularity, and that the applicant isentitled to register the vehicle, shall register the vehicle and keep a recordof it in suitable books or on index cards as follows:

   (a) Under a distinctive regulation number assigned to thevehicle;

   (b) Alphabetically, under the name of the owner;

   (c) Under the motor number if available, otherwise any otheridentifying number of the vehicle; and

   (d) In the discretion of the division of motor vehicles, inany other manner it may deem desirable.
