§ 31-31-21 - Return of deposit. - Rhode Island Statutes

SECTION 31-31-21

   § 31-31-21  Return of deposit. – Upon the expiration of three (3) years from the date of an accident oroccurrence, any security remaining on deposit shall be returned to the personwho made the deposit or to his or her personal representative if an affidavitor other evidence satisfactory to the division of motor vehicles has been filedwith it:

   (1) That no action for damages arising out of the accidentfor which the deposit was made is pending against any person on whose behalfthe deposit was made; and

   (2) That there does not exist any unpaid judgment renderedagainst the person in the action: or

   (3) That eight (8) years have elapsed following the date fromwhich an action at law has been filed in any court in this state and there doesnot exist any unpaid judgment.
