SECTION 31-31-9

   § 31-31-9  Failure to deposit security– Suspensions. – (a) In the event that any person required to deposit security under thischapter fails to deposit the security within ten (10) days after the divisionof motor vehicles has sent the notice as provided in this chapter, the divisionof motor vehicles shall suspend:

   (1) The license of each driver in any manner involved in theaccident;

   (2) The registrations of all vehicles owned by the owner ofeach vehicle of a type subject to registration under the laws of this stateinvolved in the accident;

   (3) If the driver is a nonresident, the privilege ofoperating within this state a vehicle of a type subject to registration underthe laws of this state;

   (4) If the owner is a nonresident, the privilege of the ownerto operate or permit the operation within this state of a vehicle of a typesubject to registration under the laws of this state.

   (b) The suspensions shall be made in respect to personsrequired by the division of motor vehicles to deposit the security who fail todeposit the security, except as otherwise provided under succeeding sections ofthis chapter.
