SECTION 31-32-17

   § 31-32-17  Installment payment ofjudgments. – (a) A judgment debtor, upon due notice to the judgment creditor, may apply tothe court in which the judgment was rendered for the privilege of paying thejudgment in installments. The court, in its discretion and without prejudice toany other legal remedies which the judgment creditor may have, may so order andfix the amounts and times of payment of these installments.

   (b) The division of motor vehicles shall not suspend alicense, registration, or nonresident's operating privilege, and shall restoreany license, registration, or nonresident's operating privilege suspendedfollowing nonpayment of a judgment, when the judgment debtor gives proof offinancial responsibility and obtains an order permitting the payment of thejudgment installments, and while the payment of any installments is not indefault.
