SECTION 31-33-5

   § 31-33-5  Surrender of license andregistration. – (a) Any person whose license or registration shall have been suspended underany provision of chapter 31 or 32 of this title, or whose policy of insuranceor bond, when required under it, shall have been canceled or terminated, shallimmediately return his or her license and registration to the division of motorvehicles. If any person shall fail to return to the division of motor vehiclesthe license or registration as provided in these chapters, the division ofmotor vehicles shall immediately direct any peace officer to secure possessionof it and to return the same to the division of motor vehicles.

   (b) Any person willfully failing to return a license orregistration as required in subsection (a) of this section, shall be fined notmore than five hundred dollars ($500) or imprisoned not to exceed thirty (30)days, or both.
